The main aim of the new curriculum is to raise standards. The new curriculum is intended to be more challenging, focusing on essential core subject knowledge and skills.
The National Curriculum is only a small part of a school’s overall curriculum. At Holly Park we have been moving towards this new Curriculum over the last couple of years. Schools are not expected to have the new curriculum fully embedded until 2017.
At Holly Park we implemented the new curriculum in September 2014 and of course we will be evaluating it at the end of the year.
We have introduced a new pupil learning journey that has replaced our old one. Each pupil in KS2 has their own learning journey which shows them the year group expectations in every subject.
The learning journey enables pupils to self evaluate their own learning and to look at their next steps in learning. The learning journey will help us to move towards assessment without levels.
